Artemis Curepipe Hospital is one of Mauritius' largest private healthcare facilities. Run By Design contributed to the interior environment by delivering spaces that balance clinical performance with comfort and intuitive navigation.

Healthcare environments can often feel intimidating and impersonal. The client wanted the hospital to feel less institutional and more like a hotel, creating an environment where patients and visitors feel welcomed and at ease from the moment they arrive. The challenge was to introduce this sense of hospitality without compromising the professionalism, functionality and clinical excellence expected of a modern healthcare facility.

A key consideration was the patient and visitor journey through the building. The design aims to eliminate moments of confusion or hesitation, allowing people to intuitively understand where to go, where to check in and how to move between spaces without having to stop and work out their next step. Continuous, free-flowing lines guide movement through the interior, creating a sense of visual and physical continuity from reception through to waiting areas, consultation spaces and patient rooms. This allows for one less thing to worry about during what can often be a stressful experience.
